Susann D'Antonio has a BA in Fine Arts and has continued learning in varied art practices through workshops and classes her entire adult life. A long time resident of the Keys, Susann moved to Big Pine Key in 1979.

Susann's main creative focus is 3 dimensional mixed media assemblages and paintings. The paintings are mixed media mainly using encaustic and oil paint. Encaustic is a technique of painting with a beeswax and demar resin medium. The paintings are many layered and through this overlay produces a luminosity and transparency that contributes to the painting depth and distinctive lush surface.

She has also a series of mixed media figures, Altered Egos, which are based on a gourd and enhanced with various found objects and encaustic monotypes on fabric.

Sue has served on the Art in Public Places board for many years, assisting in placement of art in Monroe County's public spaces. She is also currently on the Board of Monroe County Arts Council. She and her husband own Framing in Paradise, a custom frame shop on Big Pine Key, located in Artists in Paradise Gallery.

In a joint project, Susann and her husband, Bob, build large 3 dimensional costumes each fall for Fantasy Fest, one of Key Wes's most popular events. They have been competing in the Fantasy Fest Parade for the last 20 years and have been fortunate to have had pictures of their costumes published worldwide. In 2017 they branched out to include the 2nd annual Papio Kinetic Parade sponsored by the Key West Art & Historic Society.
